A Toast to Tim: Edmonds & Slatter Director Retires After More Than 20 Years
After more than two decades helping to shape the future of Edmonds & Slatter Opticians, Director Tim Cole has officially retired from the business to pursue his long-standing passion for the wine industry.
Tim joined the Leicestershire-based independent opticians in 2003, bringing with him a wealth of experience gained throughout an already successful optical career. Having entered the profession as a trainee at just 17 years old and qualifying three years later as a Dispensing Optician, he went on to manage seven practices for a large independent optical group in Wiltshire before making the move to Edmonds & Slatter in 2003.
Over the following 22 years, Tim played a pivotal role in the growth and development of the company, helping to strengthen Edmonds & Slatter's reputation for exceptional patient care, professional expertise and community involvement across Leicestershire.
In 2023, Tim celebrated 20 years with the business and 40 years in the optical industry and earlier this year, current team members gathered at Edmonds & Slatter's 40th Anniversary celebrations at Leicester Racecourse to bid Tim a fond farewell. In a fitting tribute to his next chapter, he was presented with a vintage bottle of wine, reflecting the passion he now plans to focus on in retirement.
Tim's legacy will remain firmly embedded within the business he helped guide for more than two decades. During his time as Director, Edmonds & Slatter continued to grow and thrive, caring for tens of thousands of patients across its practices in Blaby, Glenfield, Kibworth, Lutterworth and Rothley, while building strong relationships within the local community.
Paying tribute to Tim's contribution, Director and Optometrist Saagar Hirani said: "Tim has been an integral part of Edmonds & Slatter's success for more than 20 years. His dedication to both our patients and our team has helped shape the business into what it is today. We thank him for everything he has contributed and wish him every success and happiness as he follows his passion for the wine industry."
The future of Edmonds & Slatter remains in safe hands, with the business continuing to be professionally led by Director and Optometrist Saagar Hirani, alongside Operations Manager Linda Southin, supported by the experienced team across all five practices.
